Wedding Ceremonial Music
Throughout my lifetime I have been to four different Americanized weddings. At every American wedding I have been to, it has started off as a calm, happy setting music, mostly with a piano of some sort playing while the bride walks the stage or carpet. At my mom and step dad's wedding it was just like this, but as soon as the ceremony was over and we went back to the house they had rented in Downtown Charleston there was all sorts of music being played with all types of food as well. Having anything from your modern day country music to the 90s throwbacks that they had listened to growing up. Another wedding I have been to was my best friend's mom back in middle school. The wedding was held in a Church, a very Christian oriented wedding. Having everyone sitting in rows, just how they are shown in the movies, with a piano playing while the bride walked the aisle, having her dad walk beside her to hand her off to the groom. Afterwards, we were taken to an aquarium where the after party was held, which was filled with music and amazing scenery of the fish tanks having everything from small little goldfish to sharks swimming behind everyone. It was a wonderful and gorgeous site to see as we all got together and ate dinner from an all you can eat buffet. The best core memory I have through all of these experiences is my dads best friend's wedding. He had a band that played some sort of classic rock like music, which was upbeat and had the wedding party uplifted. It was jumpy, everyone was having a great time, and whenever it came up to the speeches, my father had a speech, but it wasn't like any ordinary speech. Instead he sang Ice Ice Baby word for word for his speech. This isn't like the cultures we have learned about whatsoever, because other cultures might view a wedding as a very ceremonial, religious thing. Here in America, everyone is very diverse so we have all sorts of different weddings, but these are just a few of the experiences I have had at the weddings that I have been to. Having music played from religious, classic ceremonial music played by a piano or maybe even light drums, to upbeat guitar, drumming music where everyone gets together and dances after the dinner.
